It's always a treat when a fellow wedding industry pro reaches out to ask us to create something beautiful for their wedding. Such was the case with Amy of Homespun Creative!
I was so excited to work with her and her handsome hubby, Milo. He's an engineer and he took the time to build a gorgeous and informative website for their guests.
We worked on a deliciously fresh bourbon punch with fresh squeezed orange, lemon, lime, pineapple, orgeat, and local bourbon, topped with Lambic and garnished with a rosemary sprig, as well as a basil gimlet with local Portland gin, lemongrass-infused simple syrup, fresh lime, splash of grapefruit juice. The smell of pineapples was incredible as we sliced and diced our way through a whole box of them!
Amy and Milo got super creative with their beer and wine selections, finding inspiration in the new and wonderful products the Portland scene has to offer. We loved serving up the Gigantic IPA, but the highlight of the night was Lavender Lemon fizzy wine from Hi-Wheel Wine and Mead Company, which we garnished with sprigs of Lavender we cut ourselves at Sauvie Island Lavender Farm.
Hi-Wheel has a great mission, which I'll quote here: "With so many fruits in the world, why only ferment the grape? That's what I wondered, too, and seven years ago embarked on a mission to find out which make the yummiest beverages. The end result? Lightly carbonated, crisp and refreshing beverages: Lemon, Grapefruit, and Lime." The wine is 6.8 ABV and has an incredibly fresh taste. I hope we get to serve their wines at many more weddings in the future.
For our punch, we used El Guapo Bitters' Classic Old World Style Almond Orgeat. They make traditional almond-based syrup - rich, creamy, and floral. Old world style orgeat, fresh and floral almond flavor and aroma. Perfect in a Mai Tai or Suissesse. Available in 2 sizes, 8.5oz and 16.5oz. No extracts, essential oils, or artificial flavorings are added to any of their products, and they source all ingredients locally grown to New Orleans when available. It's a pure recipe with only water, cane sugar, almonds, bitter almond oil, and some spices. Find them on Instagram and in their store.
