For our second week of bath cocktails, we're excited to share a lusciously-herbaceous cocktail. Mix this up at your summer parties, and you're guaranteed to be the toast of the town. Or, make one for yourself as you unwind from a hot summer day...you deserve it!
For this drink, we used Haint Absinthe, the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition Gold Metal Winner produced by Dogwood Distilling in Forest Grove. At only $29 per bottle, this delicious 125 proof absinthe is clean, bright, and perfect for a relaxing evening at home. The distillers blend locally-sourced alpine herbs with Willamette Valley pinot noir in their handmade stainless steel still to make a stunning local product that we'll be using all summer long.
We recommend Haint Absinthe as a spritz atop any of your favorite summer cocktails, or as a disgestif after a big seasonal feast. The notes of wormwood, damiana, hyssop, fennel pollen, spearmint, and of course, star anise, are sure to kick up your evening and give you a refreshing delight of a drink.
Afternoon in Eden
Muddle mint and vanilla syrup, then add tequila and lime. Shake well over ice, then pour into a chilled glass. Float absinthe on top and garnish with a small bouquet of fresh mint.
We paired this drink with BEING's "Float" salt bath, a blend of French green clay, Dead Sea salt, and essential oils of peppermint and cypress.
