This summer we were contacted by Weebly, the site that hosts our website and has helped us set up our domain, blog, and business since Day 1, and asked to be in the ad campaign for their new product release.
Given all that Weebly has provided and made possible for Jennelle and I, the decision was an easy one to make! We quickly began preparations for what was to be the busiest and most exciting Saturday of our summer.
The morning began with an in-home photo shoot in our studio, where we got some shots of us interacting with Weebly and the new product design. It didn't feel cheesy or forced. We really do sit on our couch and look at Weebly. It's how we keep track of our stats and site views, as well as sales.
We then headed out to Sauvie Island Farms to showcase one of our favorite steps in the creative process -- the harvesting! It's so fun to live in a bountiful region that has varied, organic, seasonal produce to offer us creative inspiration for our cocktails. Since this was shot at the end of summer, the blackberries were in full swing and were so sweet and juicy. You can see some shots of us picking berries and also some flowers to use atop our floral cocktails. Do note, if you plan to use flowers or flower petals in food or drinks, it's VERY important that you only buy organic! This isn't some optional hippie thing that I'm gently suggesting; it's an absolute must. Most flower growers use harsh and carcinogenic chemicals to make their flowers stronger and brighter, and you don't want these coming near your food. But I digress. We talked about our cocktail designs and had a merry afternoon in the fields, showing the Nashville-based film crew some of the beauty that lives in the Pacific Northwest wonderland.
Next, we headed out to North Portland to set up our summer pool party, where we would be serving up some of our favorite summer cocktails. I'll admit that in planning sessions, I'd worried for a bit where we'd be able to host this event. Luckily, our clients Jeff and Mitchell graciously agreed to donate their home and backyard so we could have a lovely setting for our summer pool party. Then our friend, wedding makeup and hair artist Kirstie Wight, stepped in to do our makeup for the evening's party. I love how she tamed my crazy curls into a soft, romantic style and gave me a fresh, natural face.
We had fun serving up our drinks in style and being surrounded by the love and support that the guests (our friends) shrouded us in. It was a lovely night. I'm grateful to Weebly for this opportunity and also to all of our amazing friends, fellow vendors, and clients, who stepped in to help pull off a perfect evening.
If you are looking for a space to host your creative project or website, I heartily recommend Weebly. It has everything Squarespace or Wix has to offer and, I can honestly say, having tried all three options, that it's been the best experience for us as small business owners.
